I started this series of paintings to brighten up my apartment and I have had a blast creating them. I love to mix bright, buttery oil paint to create my blend of pop culture, eroticism and humor.

I have a specific image in mind before I start to paint, but the finished work evolves out of the original idea and the end result is unexpected. I work quickly, urgently, to keep the ideas fresh, spontaneous. And because the next idea is nuzzling the old idea aside – like a puppy, struggling for attention.

Creativity is a charge. I live for that magic spark that comes with the forming of ideas. Like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle snapping into place, but a puzzle that morphs as it nears completion.

My impulse is to react with humor to the daily bombardment of pop culture, mass marketing, and corporate images. We all want to think we are too smart to fall for advertising and yet the biggest advertisers tend to be the most popular products. Somebody is buying into the blarney, and my art is a humorous wake up call – A small jab at the eight hundred pound gorilla.

I want my art to be a respite from life. A place where glib ideas bump against libido and are splashed with cotton candy colors. I want to take the viewer on a cockamamie fantasy.

I love the female figure, the tumble of curves and soft angles – Like mounds of whipped cream on cubes of jell-o – Like a river of warm chocolate flowing around a jumble of cherries. A curvy woman can make the monkeys of my mind snap strait and march in lockstep.

Each canvas is 3' x 4' x 1.5".
